Burnsy Insight – 7 Days to Die

7 Days to Die is the origin for most team survival games. Developed and maintained by “The Fun Pimps” the game is still in the Alpha stage of development, and has been for years – it will be good to see it in Beta or full release.

As with all survival games you are dropped in a random location on a massive map which you can explore as well as gather, build and most importantly survive in.

From a team point of view, the early game can be quite tough as the team will get dropped in random locations and it is your first task to group up. I would presume this is so that on competitive servers you can get yourself settled before someone else comes to invade. This can be a bit more challenging if your group has not played before as the “Friends” system is not intuitive to use and takes a little getting used to.

As the game develops and your team settles in their first base things tend to get a bit easier. This usually works better with a team as more can be carried when looting, there is more people building and everyone can take on a ‘role’. Each team member will require different resources for their role but some materials will be across a couple – you need the same ingredient for gunpowder as you do for some medicines, for example.

Every night 7 there is a zombie horde attack, unlike each night where you get a few running zombies – this time you get a huge horde of zombies. This can be make or break for your base and the longer you survive the harder the horde nights will get. This is quite fun as a team as everyone panics and tries to kill zombies, but can be painful depending on where they broke in.

Overall, 7 Days to die is a great team game even with the madness that happens when you wonder into a bunker full of zombies. Gather you friends together and see how long you survive.

The Good

  • Great team game
  • Large maps
  • Multiple different enemies

The Bad

  • Still in development (has been for years)
  • Early game can be tough on the 7th Night
